2009-2010 PROJECTS

C.L.I.P. - Community Leadership Incentive Program March 2009 - March 2010  - Sponsored by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services

Carleton Place CORE Youth Services, in partnership with the Carleton Place OPP have implemented the CLIP project throughout Carleton Place.  This project was designed after the well known "Smart Ticketing Program" which promotes positive engagement and relationship building between young people, the police and the community.

Young people in our community are being awarded a voucher for free items from the local business community for exhibiting good behaviours and demonstrating positive community engagement and leadership.  OPP officers, CORE Youth Services staff together with staff from local schools are approaching young people all around the community in an effort to thank them for following rules, abiding by the law, being helpful or courteous to others and for making good choices.

We are watching you!!!

Skills Link Projects  - Sponsored by Service Canada, Youth Employment Strategy

*** Ongoing application intake - Applications available at the Youth Centre

The Skills Link program, sponsored the Service Canada, is geared towards assisting those young people between the ages of 15 and 30 who are facing barriers to employment such as: single parents, youth living in rural areas and high school drop-outs.  The program activities help participants obtain and develop a broad range of skills and work experience needed to participate in the job market, tailored to meet individual needs and provide assistance.

This client-centred approach is based on an assessment of the specific needs of individual youth and supports youth in developing basic and advanced employment skills that help them find a keep a job.  Over the course of the program participants will develop career plans, participate in life and employment skills development activities and deliver community projects.

For more information about Skills Link, please see the Service Canada website at www.servicecanada.gc.ca under the Youth Employment Strategy or speak to the Program Coordinator directly.
